In Case You Missed It: Waiver Reimagine Strategic Planning Session

DiVA Stands Against Proposed Budget Cuts Affecting Disability Services.

The Governor has issued his proposed budget cuts for people with disabilities and elders. This is a significant threat to the well-being of individuals with disabilities across Minnesota.

Governor Tim Walz unveiled a $65.9 billion budget proposal that includes significant $1.3 billion reductions in funding for disability waivers and services and long-term care. DiVA is arranging a meeting with the Governor’s office, talking to the media and forming a coalition of other organizations to fight these proposed budget cuts.

On January 30, DiVA hosted its first community meeting to stand against proposed budget cuts affecting disability services.

Agenda
  1. Overview of the Proposed Budget Cuts: Understanding the specific reductions and their potential effects on disability services.

  2. Community Impact: Sharing personal stories and experiences to highlight the real-world consequences of these cuts.

  3. Advocacy Strategies: Developing a unified plan to engage with policymakers, including letter-writing campaigns, petitions, and organizing peaceful demonstrations.

  4. Collaboration with Advocacy Organizations: Partnering with groups such as The Arc Minnesota, Legal Aid and others.
